Week 7 – July 30, 2024

We had an incredible week with our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders! There is never a dull moment! The questions and observations they made were priceless! One night in chapel, a girl camper gave a beautiful prayer during our open prayer session. Her friend sitting next to her was the next camper to pray out loud, she prayed, “I agree with everything she said. Amen.” Talk about priceless! On the first day of camp, we assign the campers into cabins and then walk them out of the chapel to meet their counselors. The first words out of one of the boy campers’ mouths was “hey, is that a spray tan?” I admit the counselor was tan but that was pretty funny! One of the camp staff, Maddie Bowers, was preaching one night in chapel, and she was talking about a story in the Bible where there is a ladder to heaven. Without hesitation, a camper blurted out “where’s the ladder…I want to see it!” Maddie kept her cool and kept on preaching. I love the simplicity, the honesty, and the humor these campers bring to the table! Needless to say, we had a great week!

The weather has improved dramatically since June. With the beautiful weather, Lake Caribou is the focus of every afternoon at Cathedral of the Pines Camp. The campers are playing water volleyball, rolling on the log, and taking paddle boat rides. Lake Caribou is refreshing, clean, and my favorite thing in the entire world! We are so lucky to be able to enjoy the beauty of the north shore and God’s amazing creation. Every day I am grateful for the 75 wonderful years of ministry at COP! Thank you for your prayers, the love and support, both emotionally and financially. We are a blessed congregation! I wish there was a way to slow the summer down. I am going to stay in the present and enjoy each day here at COP.
