Week 8 – August 6, 2024

I am sitting on the lodge porch watching the boy workstaff and CS Men take on the boy counselors in an intense game of softball. The music is blaring…it is a great song choice…It is “There Will Be Days Like This” by Van Morrison. It actually doesn’t get much better than this! Our Hi-League president, Aaron Stoa, just hit a homerun over the chapel porch, and all of the girl counselors are going nuts, cheering, whooping, and hollering. Pastor Dixon hit a solid single; you should see him run the bases. It is totally impressive! When the girls aren’t cheering, they are sitting on the Adirondack Chairs making friendship bracelets that are attached to their huge water bottles.

9th Grade Confirmation Camp is so much fun because it is filled with so many theme meals. One of the theme meals is High School Lunch. Out of the 92 campers in attendance there were 23 high schools represented. That is amazing! It’s a great opportunity for these kids to get to know people from all around the Twin Cities area. The beauty of this camping week is that they become great friends here at COP and then get to continue those relationships and friendship throughout the school year by being involved in the youth programs at Mount Olivet.

During one of the evening chapel services, the senior boys asked to sing special music. Many of them participate in Cathedral Choir during the school year. I was so proud of their beautiful song. I loved watching the 9th grader campers’ reaction to the special music. Hopefully, this will encourage them to join Cathedral Choir this fall and the other many great opportunities that are available through Hi-League.
