Week 10 – August 20, 2024

Hi-League Retreat was nothing short of fabulous!! To have the counselors and workstaff that have been working at camp throughout the summer up at COP, for a highly charged, highly competitive week, was so much fun! The campers are split into four teams and every event they compete in adds points for their team. This year the theme was “The First Olympics,” with the four teams being Zeus, Poseidon, Ares, and Artemis. It was a hard-fought battle, with team Poseidon winning the championship.

My favorite activity of the week is the talent show. We assign the campers specific tasks on Friday morning and by Friday night the campers preform an incredible show. Each team creates a dance, performs a song, paints a poster, makes a video, and gives a speech about why their team should be the winners! They are so incredibly creative and funny. They have such a great time working together and creating memories they will never forget! Kids working with kids from other high schools, different genders, and different grades. It makes my heart sing!

It is hard for me to believe that the summer is quickly ending. It went way to fast…funny how it gets quicker each year! I am thrilled that the enthusiasm and love for this place remains as strong as ever! Our 75th camping season was one for the records! We still have Family Camp and Thursday Friends coming up…definitely crowd pleasers. Thank you for your continued support! It is greatly appreciated by the children of our congregation! I look forward to seeing you all at Rally Sunday!
